This Kind of Town screens at the Basement Media Festival in Boston on August 21. They’re “a ‘meta-media’ festival specializing in work that focuses on the act of mediation. That means scratched film surfaces, warbly audio, and low-res imagery.” Ah, a festival after my own heart (and work). Wish I could attend!
The Counter
More work-in-progress: stills from The Counter, a short video originally conceived as one part of a gallery installation, currently undergoing re-editing with an eye toward making a stand-alone single channel piece. The Counter deals with the relationship between words and numbers, abstract signifiers and concrete objects.

Exorcism of Metaphor
A 3-part, 24-minute version of “Exorcism of Metaphor,” an in-progress 5-part video installation, was on display at the 6th annual Brakhage Symposium. Each section consists of one year’s worth of metaphors and similes extracted from quotes in the New York Times Book Review “100 Notable Books” and rephotographed, hand manipulated Hollywood imagery.
This Kind of Town
Recently done to the point of wanting to share it with the world beyond Boulder: This Kind of Town, in which the story of Ward, Colorado is told via audio stolen appropriated from Westerns. Upcoming screenings include San Francisco Cineatheque’s Crossroads film fesitval (April 16-18) and the Iowa City International Documentary film festival (April 15-17).

Denver: found footage fun January 28
show at Naropa 10/26
It’s all ages and alcohol free; I think I will be bringing baked goods. Wholesome! This whole show is going to be full of droney, loopy, echoey, poppy noisy goodness. Hedia makes me feel all drab n’ ordinary with my cello by rocking the Viola da Gamba- so great!
